Atlus announced that a Metaphor: ReFantazio demo is now available on the Switch 2 worldwide ahead of its November 2026 debut. The eShop listing now offers the option. While the announcement on social media only mentioned it being available alongside it running on the system next to knitted dolls of protagonist Will and the fairy Gallica, downloading it shows that saves can be made and carried over to the full game.
This announcement isn’t an unexpected one. Atlus already shared a Metaphor: ReFantazio demo on other platforms when it debuted there ahead of the Switch 2 one. Those functioned similarly to the trial here. People can start the game, make saves, and then carry over progress to the full game. This also means an opportunity to see what dungeon crawling is like, test out fights with the Archetype roles, and to see some of the Followers who act a bit like Persona series Social Links.
As a reminder, the game will be $39.99 when it shows up on the Switch 2. If someone pre-orders a copy, they get a Archetype EXP Chest Set with 10 Hero’s Incenses and five Hero’s Fruits to increase Archetype EXP. They also get an Adventurer’s Journey Pack that gives two Stale Blackbreads that deal Almighty damage to an enemy, three Magical Breads to recover MP, five Expensive Medicines to heal one character, five Revival Medicines to revive a downed party member, and 30,000 Reeve to spend in the in-game shops on things like items and equipment. Both the eShop page and the Amazon page for the Steelbook Edition mention this bonus for buyers.
The Metaphor: ReFantazio Switch 2 demo is out now and the full game debuts on November 12, 2026. The game is already on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
