Following gamescom 2026, Atlus confirmed the Switch 2 pre-order of the Metaphor: ReFantazio port is live with a new trailer. It highlights the Persona-like JRPG gameplay of the original title and gives us a chance to see the protagonist start to compete in the Royal Tournament to save his royal friend’s life. It is $39.99 for the standard edition on the eShop. The Guidebook and Atlus 35th Anniversary special editions will be $49.99 and $69.99.
The video begins with the animated sequence of the protagonist awakening their archetype. It then shows the turn-based battle system briefly, with both standard and magical attacks used against foes. We then see him meet NPCs and allies who will join him, an Elda, on a quest to undo a curse placed on his best friend, the prince of Euchronia, by Louis Guiabern. This means competing in the Royal Tournament alongside him at a chance to become the next king and take him down.
