During the Nintendo Direct on September 9, 2026, a new trailer appeared for Metroid Ravenous. Samus Aran will return for a new adventure in early 2027. This will be a 2D experience along the lines of Metroid Dread.
In the trailer, Samus says that a mysterious group attacked her, leaving her gravely injured. Said group appears in the trailer as well. The story will follow her getting off the moon. However, there is only a slim chance of success.
Aside from showing off how the stages look in this game, we can also see her using an energy-drain skill. This probably links to the “It’s eat or be eaten” phrase that appears in both the trailer and the short introduction afterward.

Metroid Ravenous will come out on January 28, 2027 for the Switch 2. Some amiibo figures and a special edition will be available on the same date.
