The promised gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live Mewgenics announcement turned out to be Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X console ports. It will show up on both platforms on September 8, 2026. This follows the PC release back in February 2026. During the showcase, a performance of the song “Guillotina” also appeared.
Ahead of gamescom 2026, we actually already learned the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X versions of Mewgenics were on the way due to the early debuts of the eShop and Microsoft Store product pages. These showed Nicalis will be the publisher and that it’s basically the strategic roguelike we’re familiar with on the PC.
In Mewgenics, players gather cats either from strays that show up or by breeding their existing ones to create parties they send off on journeys to battle other cats and creatures in different parts of the world. Based on their progress, they may evolve, grow stronger, or come back with useful equipment, giving a player better starting point and genes for subsequent runs.
