Nintendo recently announced that Mewtwo is coming to the new Super Smash Bros. as a playable fighter, and will be available for free for those that own both versions of Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U. The official website in Japan shares more information.

Similar to the Super Smash Bros. Nintendo 3DS & Wii U: Premium Sound Collection soundtrack CD, which will be free to those who register both Super Smash Bros. titles, Mewtwo will also be free, but if you only have one version, that’s okay, too–you’ll still be able to buy him later on.

According to the website, owners of both versions will receive DLC codes that can be used to acquire Mewtwo, and redeemed sometime in Spring 2015. However, it also mentions that Mewtwo will also be available for purchase as paid DLC at a later date

No further information on the Mewtwo DLC’s price or release date has been announced, but we’ll likely hear more about it as the DLC gets closer to completion and release.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will release in tomorrow in North America  and November 28 in Europe.
