Microsoft isn’t sitting idly by while Sony drops the price of the Playstation 3 in Japan. On November 1st the 20 GB Xbox 360 will be reduced to 34,800 yen ($303) down from 39,765 yen ($346). For a limited time the 20GB system will be packaged with a two games, Viva Piñata and Forza Motorsport 2. The hard driveless core system will also get a price cut to 29,800 yen ($260), which seems like a terrible deal compared to this holiday season’s bundle pack.

Gamers who haven’t jumped on the next-gen bandwagon yet are going to need something to play Shin Sangoku Musou 5 (Dynasty Warriors 6) with and the 20GB bundle looks very attractive compared to a stand alone Playstation 3. The Xbox 360 value pack may have been even more tempting if Microsoft threw in Blue Dragon instead of Viva Piñata, but I suppose Viva Piñata has more consumer value. You don’t have to look too hard to find a used copy of Blue Dragon for around 2,000 yen ($17).
