After seeing flyers hinting at a $50 price drop, Microsoft sent an e-mail to Siliconera HQ confirming that the Xbox 360 Pro pack will retail for $349.99 starting on August 8 (Wed.). This date is a few days before the flyers advertised and it is right on the heels of the new 80GB Playstation 3. The Core system (no hard drive) will also drop in price, $20 to $279.99. The Xbox 360 Elite package (120 GB hard drive / HMDI port) gets a price break too, $30 to bring its price to $449.99.

One other SKU is being thrown in to the mix later this year, the Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360. For $399.99 you get an Xbox 360 with a HMDI port, a 20GB hard drive, wireless controller, headset play and charge kit and a green/gold Halo-themed paint job.
