Moby as Mario, Frogger, and other arcade icons

This article is over 16 years old and may contain outdated information

All of the retro arcade news with Dig Dug and Frogger reminded me of techno artist Moby. In his 2002 music video “We Are Made of Stars”, Moby parades around in an astronaut outfit and stumbles into an arcade. To avoid showing Pac-Man and other copyrighted characters, Moby in the astronaut suit is used as the “player”. The games are shuffled through quickly, but in case you weren’t aware of this take a look at some screen captures below.

This is Moby in Frogger. Notice the street has changed to something that represents Hollywood with palm trees and stars on the ground.

Dig Dug also sticks with the Hollywood theme, although it’s more obvious than Frogger.

The power pellets transformed into stars and the family of Pac-Man ghosts became aliens in Moby’s music video.

In the Donkey Kong-like game Moby takes Jumpman’s role. Donkey Kong is swapped with a dude dressed in blue pajamas throwing stars.

Here's the music video just in case you want to see how Moby, Hollywood celebrities, and Donkey Kong collide.
