Monster Hunter Rise PS4 and PS5 Lacks Cross-Save Support

Monster Hunter Rise PS4 and PS5 Lacks Cross-Save Support

Capcom clarified just how compatible the Monster Hunter Rise PS4 and PS5 versions will be, noting details about cross-save support. There will be no cross-progression possible with the game. A representative confirmed this to Digital Trends after the initial announcement. However, the additional details also noted the cross-progression and cross-saves will be available for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. [Thanks, Digital Trends!]

How cross-save support would work would mean someone could begin playing Monster Hunter Rise on a PS4, then use that same save file on the PS5. (Or vice versa.)

However, there will be some cross-platform compatibility when Monster Hunter Rise launches on the PS4 and PS5. Cross-play will be available. So someone playing on a PS4 will be able to go on hunts with a person on a PS5. This feature is restricted by platforms, though. So PS4 and PS5 folks can play together, but wouldn’t be able to play with those on Xbox platforms.

There are some exclusive features confirmed for the PS5 version of Monster Hunter Rise. For example, it will take advantage of the DualSense controller. Adaptive triggers will work with some weapons.

Monster Hunter Rise will launch appear on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on January 20, 2023.
