Alatreon is looming over Monster Hunter World: Iceborne ahead of its free Title Update 4 coming July 8, 2020. Capcom revealed new gameplay and details in the latest Dev diary video.

The Monster Hunter World: Iceborne free Title Update #4 was originally slated to launch in May, but it was delayed due to the global pandemic. The main attraction in the Title Update #4 is the return of the fan-fan-favorite monster Alatreon, the Blazing Black Dragon.
Alatreon
Alatreon sits on a higher echelon of Elder Dragons with a tricky ability to switch elemental attributes at will. A good tip is to equip elemental resistances and blight resistances to take on Alatreon. Also, be ready to think on your feet. When Alatreon changes its elemental powers, it blasts out stored power as a destructive shockwave known as “Escaton Judgment.” In order t survive this powerful new attack, you’ll want to weaken it by attacking Alatreon while matching its current elemental weakness. This will require teamwork.
With Alatreon materials, you’ll get to craft unique weapons with one for each of the 14 weapon types as well as armor sets. The new set bonus is called “Alatreon Divinity.” This set bonus will take into account your elemental resistance and “translate it to elemental damage” for your weapon.
Summer Event
Additionally, few extra special events are also under preparation. The first is the “Sizzling Spice Fest” as the Summer Seasonal Event, which will take place in the Seliana Gathering Hub. Hunters will get to craft a new Armor Set, Layered Armor, Palico Gear, Weapon Pendants, and more. The event will also come with meat dishes and other monster-themed gear to craft. The summer event will run from July 21 at 5:00 pm PDT through August 6, 2020 at 4:59 pm PDT.
New Variant Monster
Lastly, we have the limited-time Event Quest that will allow players to hunt the new Variant monster, Frostfang Barioth. Don’t forget to pack Hot Drinks, Nullberries, and strong ice resistance armor when facing this icy Barioth Variant. The event, titled “The Last White Knight,” will be available from August 6 at 5:00 pm PDT through August 19, 2020 at 4:59 pm PDT.
The Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Title Update 4 will be available for free starting July 8, 2020 at 5:00 pm PDT. That’s July 9, 2020 at 00:00 UTC and 1:00 am BST. The Title Update #5 will launch in Fall 2020. It will feature another returning monster with new Master Rank Layered Armor, and more.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
