Capcom announced that Monster Hunter: World has shipped 6 million units worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, making it the fastest Capcom title to ship 6 million units.

 

Monster Hunter: World is the latest entry of the series and first new Monster Hunter title for home console in nine years. as of February 9, 2018, the series has grown into what Capcom is calling a mega-hit with cumulative sales of more than 46 million units.

 

Starting Spring 2018, Capcom will hold events in seven areas across Japan leading up to the Monster Hunter: World Kariou Playoffs, where Hunters compete in kill times to decide on the #1 hunter of the country. The company is looking to roll out further cross-industry initiatives to increase long-term brand value and capture a wider fan base, such as with a Hollywood film adaptation of the series that is in the works, along with real-life attractions that are currently running at Universal Studios Japan.

 

Monster Hunter: World is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Its PC version releases in Fall 2018.
