Monster Strike 3DS Trailer Shows Its Monster Strike-ception Story And Gameplay

Recommended Videos

Monster Strike is one of the most popular smartphone titles in Japan, and it’s getting a new Nintendo 3DS game that offers an original RPG story with familiar combat. The first gameplay trailer gives us a look at the 3DS take on the smartphone title.

The video starts out with some details on the game’s story, which is kind of like a Monster Strike-ception, as the protagonist Ren Homura is sitting there playing Monster Strike on a smartphone. Oh, he also lost his memories. I’m not sure why, but who cares—he’s playing Monster Strike… in Monster Strike!

As Ren was minding his own business enjoying the free-to-play goodness that is Monster Strike, a wild Oragon pops out of his device and tells him that he has an important mission for him, and hopefully that’ll score him some sweet Orbs for the inconvenience.

Now, as far as gameplay goes, it has the familiar pull-and-strike system that the Monster Strike game has going on for smartphone. There will be tough bosses and evolved Strike Shots, in addition to a local co-op mode that will allow up to four players to play together.

Monster Strike will release in Japan on December 17, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS. You can check out our earlier report to see what kind of pre-order items and bonuses that come included with the game.
