Arika has released its Fighting EX Layer update schedule for January through May 2019, and quite a few new characters lie ahead. Around the end of March 2019, one of the new Fighting EX Layer characters will appear. Then, before May 2019 ends, the other two will show up. This is in addition to a number of other updates arriving in that period.

The three Fighting EX Layer characters were not named, but a trailer showing footage did appear alongside the schedule and Arika previously noted in August 2018 that Fatal Fury/The King of Fighters’ Terry Bogard and Street Fighter EX’s Area and Sharon would be coming to the game. One of these characters will be paid, very likely Terry, and the other two will be free. When referring to the free characters, Arika noted on YouTube that, “Releasing characters for free on our development budget is a very risky bet. We are glad if you forgive us for taking the time to do so.”

Here is the full Fighting EX Layer update schedule shared in its YouTube video description.

Early January 2019 Schedule:

Planning to have an update: mainly fixing arcade version.

Attacks and systems will be adjusted slightly.

Mid-February 2019 Schedule:

It is one month before "Toushinsai -闘神祭-", but we are planning to take the courage to have a game adjustment. (Details are yet to be determined.)

Planning to add music.

Late March 2019 Schedule:

Plan to release 1 additional character for free.

And here is the update video. It mainly shows the information above while footage of Sharon fighting appears in the background, but it ends with a Terry teaser.

Fighting EX Layer is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
