Kratos’ journey, God of War, was one of the biggest hits to come out of SCEA’s Santa Monica Studios. It is not a huge surprise that a follow up has been in the works, but gamers are going to have to wait until 2007 to play God of War II.
In the first game, Kratos sought to dethrone Ares and now in God of War II Kratos joins the ranks of Mount Olympus. As the new God of War Kratos must travel further and slay more mythological beasts in order to change his fate. To complete his task Kratos is given a new set of moves and magic. He still has his Blades of Chaos plus a new set of elemental magic with the power of wind, ice and more elements yet to be announced. Some of the mythological beasts that Kratos will encounter are the Cyclops, the Gryphon and Cerberus. These new monsters will be places in new terrain like the Sisters of Fate and the Dark Swamp. One change in God of War II is more puzzle solving. SCEA plans to add in progressively challenging puzzles that are meshed into the story.
