After loving multiplayer Zelda in the Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure, I’m glad to see that the Phantom Hourglass has a multiplayer mode too. Things are a little different since the battle mode is one on one where one player guides Link and the other controls three Phantom Guardians. If you’re playing as Link you want to snag “force gems” scattered in a maze back to your base. Meanwhile, the other player has to try and catch Link by cornering him with the three guardians. If Link gets caught players switch sides and whoever collects more force gems after three rounds is the winner.
