By Probably the biggest change from Lumines to Lumines II is the change from being an underground house music venue to a Top 40’s hangout. Mainstream music might sell Lumines to the masses more than Mondo Grasso’s pieces, but the extra sounds don’t mesh as well in “Hollaback Girl” as they do in music designed specifically for the game. Lumines II isn’t only restricted to being a Best of 2005 pop collection, there are some catchy new tunes in Lumines II like Heavenly Star.
