Nanashi No Game, Square Enix’s Cursed RPG, Getting Prequel?

Square Enix filed a trademark in Japan that may be connected to their cult hit Nanashi no Game (Nameless Game). Created for the Nintendo DS, Nanashi no Game was like a role playing version of The Ring. After playing an evil 8-bit RPG, players have to switch between the real world and the Famicom style video game to break the curse.

Nanashi no Aru Pre which would be A Certain Pre- Without a Name in English was registered by Square Enix and sounds connected to their horror game series. Could the "Pre" be for prequel? That would make sense and perhaps give the Nanashi no series a chance in the West.

 

Square Enix considered releasing the Nintendo DS titles in North America, but after a focus test they canned plans to do so.
