Neptunia V (which actually takes place in the past) adds in a more recent video game icon – the Devil King from Square Enix’s Vita launch game Army Corps of Hell. He’s called Devil King sama in Netpunia V.

Why would Compile Heart add the King of Hell in their game? He’s sort of an icon in Japan, thanks to Twitter. Maoh, as he’s known in Japan, rips on other games, even Square Enix’s own titles like saying the follow up to Sleeping Dogs should be Sleeping Goblins Hong Kong Hell Police.

Square Enix still runs this twitter account because the Devil King has 12,000 or so active followers. That’s more than the Bravely Default and Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary twitter pages combined. So, while Army Corps of Hell didn’t fly off store shelves, Maoh took off in his own way, at least enough to be worthy of a Neptunia cameo.
