Netflix subscribers with a plan that costs at least $9 a month will be able to get a streaming disc for free. After you insert the disc, films and TV shows from Netflix’s library can be selected with the Wii remote acting as a remote.

The setup will be similar to the PlayStation 3 service with one catch, the Wii can only stream standard definition video. Don’t look droopy eyed, standard definition streaming is better than nothing and there aren’t any extra fees to pay.

Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, iterated Nintendo’s main business is gaming, but he wants to “continue to surprise our customers” by offering other types of entertainment.

Service is expected to begin this spring.
