Part of the Final Fantasy XIV 2026 Berlin Fan Festival involved new announcements tied to the FFXIV Evercold expansion that resulted in a new gameplay trailer and video highlighting the Bastion job. The new Tank role is one of two classes appearing in the next add-on, with the other being a DPS. It is entirely new to the Final Fantasy series as a whole. The company also confirmed the Digital Collector’s Edition of the expansion come with Bastion Crystal Skyltborg, an Entreat Crystal emote, and a Valhallar Odin mount. The Collector’s Bundle includes those digital items and an Ethos metal keychain, Kottr mini plush, Reaper figure, and Tapestry of the Fourth.
First, here’s the extended FFXIV Evercold expansion trailer on YouTube. The first teaser trailer, which appeared alongside the reveal at the 2026 US Fan Festival, was only about four and a half minutes long. This latest one ups that to about five and a half minutes. It shows a number of new locations and enemies.
As for the Bastion, Director and Producer appeared on stage for the keynote dressed as the new FFXIV Evercold job. It is a main tank role, as promised. These characters start in Limsa Lominsa with starting level 90, and they wield skyltborg twin greatshields. You can only use them in Evolved Action Mode, as mentioned in the previous US Fan Fest.
Here’s the trailer for that new role.
Final Fantasy XIV is on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC now, comes to the Switch 2 on August 4, 2026, and FFXIV Evercold and the Bastion job appear in January 2027.
