Bandai Namco Filmworks, Sunrise, and Sola Animation shared a trailer for the new Gundam RG XARX-ZERO anime series and confirmed it is tied to the game Rogue Orbit. Both are set in the new After Apocalypse timeline, with the show taking place 100 years before the events of the upcoming PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC title. A new teaser appeared at the 2026 San Diego Comic Con ahead of the series’ debut in 2027.
The trailer for the Gundam RG XARX-ZERO anime offers a few details about what to expect. In this timeline, humans no longer live on Earth because an object from a galaxy introduced them to cognitive materialization, FTL communication, and gravity control technologies, then 10 years later completely ravaged the planet by causing an unknown ecosystem to spawn there and take it over. What’s left of humanity lives on the moon and other colonies, such as the show’s hero Ray Azumi. He’s an orphan who’s the pilot of the new Gundam Zero and take part in a new fight about 45 years after that apocalyptic event.
Here’s the first teaser trailer for the show on YouTube. If you turn on closed captions, there is an English translation. It also points out that Kenji Kamiyama, who worked on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and East of Eden, is acting as director and working on series composition.
