The 1.09 patch for Metaphor: ReFantazio adds a new option to the settings menu called Dash Effects, which allows players to turn off motion blur. This had been a significant issue for many players, to the point of mods being made to deal with it on PC. Another quality-of-life change is an alteration to the animation for the popularity ranking, making it go a little faster.

The patch also adds a few other changes. These include some progression issues, such as a quest in the Catacombs that was unable to be completed and enemies with certain status effects blocking progress. These have both been fixed, along with other minor bugs.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is the latest game from the Persona series director Katsura Hashino. It features a fantasy world where the population is competing in a royal tournament to determine the new ruler. It’s already proving popular, as it sold over 1 million copies on launch day.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is out now for PS5, PS4, PC and Xbox Series X/S. The newest patch is live now for console players and will be live for PC players soon.
