We knew a new alt for Blade would appear in Honkai: Star Rail, and now we know the Mortenax version of him will appear in the 4.3 update. He’ll be a five-star unit. As such, he’ll be the focus for one of the new banners that runs after that patch arrives. HoYoVerse also shared official art of the new version of the unit on social media as part of its typical drip marketing campaign.
While many of these new versions of characters debuting in the 4.0 patch series of Honkai: Star Rail belong to the new Elation path, Mortenax Blade is a Nihility character. This means he’ll be focused on debuffing and potentially DOTs, just like past Stellaron Hunter Kafka. He’ll also deal Fire damage this time around, rather than Wind.
The original version of Blade is a Destruction character who is designed to deal AOE damage to enemies. He’s a bit of a “blood knight” type of unit. As he takes damage, it builds up to him eventually dealing an AOE attack to all enemies after being hit a certain number of times.
There’s still quite some time before this new version of Blade will appear. Before that, we’ll see an alt of another Stellaron Hunter. LV 999 Silver Wolf will be part of the 4.2 Honkai: Star Rail update. She is an Elation unit and will appear alongside another totally new Elation character when that version appears. HoYoVerse will go over details about her and other elements of that patch this week, as the Special Program for that airs on April 10, 2026.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The 4.2 update will include the LV 999 Silver Wolf alt after it launches on April 22, 2026, and the new Mortenax Blade character will appear in Honkai: Star Rail 4.3.
