The Japanese press release further clarified that this new game will be a new numbered mainline entry. The last mainline title before this was Megadimension Neptunia VII, which first appeared in 2015. Compile Heart has also set up a website that lists the prior mainline entries with their respective Japanese release dates:

  1. Hyperdimension Neptunia – August 19, 2010 (PS3)
  2. Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 – August 18, 2011 (PS3)
  3. Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory – August 30, 2012 (PS3)
  4. Megadimension Neptunia VII – April 23, 2015 (PS4)

The official website also includes silhouettes of the new game’s key characters, with a bit of unveiled headdress and outfit parts to add to the teaser. In addition to returning characters, Compile Heart also teased brand-new characters in the roster.

Compile Heart has also uploaded a teaser trailer for the new numbered mainline Neptunia entry on its YouTube channel:

Previously, in early 2025, Compile Heart’s Hikaru Yasui declared in a Famitsu magazine interview that the company has been working on a new mainline Neptunia entry. The game was originally slated for reveal by the end of 2025, as it was intended to mark the series’ 15th anniversary, which fell in 2025.

The new Neptunia game will be revealed at Compile Heart’s official YouTube channel on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 9 PM JST (8 AM ET).
