Here’s Nintendo’s official announcement, along with a trailer. They cover multiple genres. Altered Beast and Dynamite Headdy are both action games. Sword of Vermillion is an action-RPG. ToeJam & Earl is an action-adventure game. Thunder Force II is a shooter.

All of these games might sound familiar. This is because, at one point or another, they’ve likely appeared in various compilation releases. For example, Sega Genesis Classics for the Nintendo Switch includes a few. People can find Altered Beast, Dynamite Headdy, ToeJam & Earl, and Sword of Vermillion in it.

Altered Beast, Dynamite Headdy, Sword of Vermilion, Thunder Force II, and ToeJam & Earl are now part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Genesis games library. The Expansion Pack costs $49.99 for a single membership and $79.99 for a family one. All five games are available on the Sega Genesis and some Genesis collections on various platforms.
