Strange Scaffold announced its Halloween-period release will be a new organizing and cleaning-up horror game called Something is Wrong with the Library. It will show up on PCs in Fall 2026 and, unlike the already-released Librarian: Tidy of the Arcane Library, will feature no genAI. A first trailer is already available, and the Steam page is live.
In Something is Wrong with the Library, players step into The Alex Dieter Public Library and Center for Reflection in the town of Sweet Elm. Instead of being an actual cozy place to be, it turns out the billionaire founder was actually a mass murderer who killed unhoused people and put them into the building’s walls during the construction process. Naturally, that trauma and terror tainted the building. Your job is to organize real books via the Dewey Decimal System while dealing with the horrors in the game to bring peace to the place and the victims trapped there, perhaps also getting answers. The announcement also confirmed there will be replayability involved, as there will be different real books appearing and needing to be sorted in each run.
Here’s the first trailer. While it does get unsettling, none of the actual major supernatural events or jumpscares are shown. However, we do get to hear the voice acting for Administrator Phillip Shed, who will consult and direct us as we organize things.
Something is Wrong with the Library will come to the PC to offer another organizing horror game about cleaning up books in Fall 2026.
