New Pikmin 4 Trailer Focuses on the Pikmin

Nintendo shared a new Pikmin 4 video that acts as an introduction to the sorts of Pikmin you’ll see in the game. Both in-game footage and animations created specifically for the video appear to introduce how they work ahead of the game’s July 223 debut.

Things begin by introducing the plant-like creatures. Then, it shows how using the “whistle” in game can summon them and get them to follow you. As usual, you can toss Pikmin to direct them to perform tasks in Pikmin 4. So you can toss them at items to carry them, at mounds to dig them up, at unfinished structures like bridges to complete them, and at enemies to fight them. However, in situations with enemies, they could be eaten or injured. It shows that whistling can get them to return to you and out of harm’s way. Also, it shows how you can grow and collect more.

Primarily, the Blue, Red, and Yellow Pikmin are the focus in this Pikmin 4 video. However, at the three minute mark it shows off the other ones that appear, while also highlighting each one’s speciality. Blue can swim underwater, Red are okay with fire, Yellow are fine with electricity, and so on. There’s also an introduction to Oatchi at the four minute mark that shows how the “dog” can work alongside them for getting items and moving around.

Here’s the “Your First Expedition with Pikmin” trailer.

Pikmin 4 will come to the Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023. Pre-orders are open.
