Takarajima has revealed that it will release a book featuring the first PlayStation with a new case in January 2026. The set is immediately available for pre-orders both inside and outside Japan.
The company noted on the item listing that the case will be a revamp of the Blue Version, which it originally released in 2022. The New Version will distinguish itself with a different zipper design based on the console’s memory cards. The case itself will also have the same size as the actual console, unlike the smaller pouch it released earlier in March 2025.

The new set will cost ¥3,168 (~$20.33). Takarajima’s website also has a WorldShopping widget, so people residing outside Japan can place pre-orders as well. The same set is also alternatively available to order via Amazon Japan.
Numerous merchandise themed after the first PlayStation appeared in early 2025 to celebrate the console’s 30th anniversary. Sony worked with Grapht to release goods ranging from keychains to tote bags in January 2025. Bandai also released an acrylic display of the PlayStation logo that can also play its startup sound in July 2025.
The First PlayStation Book with the New Version Life-Size Multipurpose Case will be available on January 23, 2026.
