Last year, GungHo Online Entertainment revealed Puzzle & Dragons Battle Tournament, an upcoming competitive arcade game. Then, in recent events, Marvelous AQL revealed yet another arcade title for the series, that involves the use of collectable cards similar to their other trading card arcade game, Pokémon Tretta.

Puzzle & Dragons Z: Tamer Battle shares many similar features to Pokémon Tretta, but it is actually based off the 3DS title, Puzzle & Dragons Z, which was released last year. It also has a touch screen for the puzzle part of the game to mimic the feel of the 3DS game.

As far as the battles go, it’ll be similar to the traditional Puzzle & Dragons with additional 3D graphics for special sequences.

The arcade machine will also dispense cards called “Monster Tickets,” which can then be scanned to use as monsters in your party.

Additionally, the cards will come with special effects called “Z Bonus” with different enhancements such as increase attack on all your party monsters, health recovery, and more.

However, once you use your card’s Z Bonus, the part that displays the ability on the right-part will be cut off, so you can only use it once. For this reason, they recommend that you only use it at crucial moments, which will also be a fun strategic part of the game.

And not to worry… once you use up that card’s Z Bonus ability, you’ll still be able to use it as a regular card.

There are plans for various collaboration events, and the arcade game will also have some sort of interactive connectivity with Puzzle & Dragons Z on Nintendo 3DS, which will be revealed at a later date.

Puzzle & Dragons Z: Tamer Battle will launch in summer 2014. More details on collaboration projects and more, will be revealed in May.
