During a live stream celebrating the 20th anniversary of Rune Factory and 30th anniversary of Story of Seasons, Marvelous shared footage of the new game in the farming sim series and Rune Factory 6. Both titles are in development, and neither one has a release date. However, we know the Rune Factory entry has been in development for some time, as it was brought up back in 2023. The clips highlighting both also appeared on social media after the announcement on YouTube.
First, here’s how the new Story of Seasons game looks in a video that highlights some of the returning Bokujou no Monogatari elements. The video starts by showing seagulls flying toward the town, showing it will be by the ocean or sea with a beach and dock in the region. The first view of the farm shows cherry and orange trees will be back, with lettuce, radishes, and turnips growing nearby. Subsequent shots show what look like cabbage, carrot, potato, and strawberry fields. A look at the town came up after that. Things closed out with a peek at the barn and livestock, which showed an alpaca, chickens, cows, and a sheep.
Next, here’s the brief video highlighting in-progress footage of Rune Factory 6.
We’ve seen new games in both series in the last few years. The Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar remake appeared on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Rune Factory spin-off Guardians of Azuma is on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC too.
The new Story of Seasons game and Rune Factory 6 are in development for unspecified platforms.
