Next Up Hero will have an entire community of players working through its highly-challenging co-op play, with a single living player guiding the fight alongside the spirits of all the players who’ve died before them.

Next Up Hero pits players against challenging monsters in live combat, but with the help of an online community to back them up. As a living player, they will lead the fight against a stage’s challenges, with anyone who’s failed the stage able to fly around and spectate another match, healing the player working through it (the only way to regain health). Should players want to help more directly, they can come back as an Echo, a spirit that deals less damage, but is still a welcome help in the game’s difficult areas. With these abilities, players worldwide will work together to complete stages.

Players can customize the warrior they intend to bring into battle as well. Players can equip a number of skins and abilities, and they are also able to use powers they gain from defeated monsters.
