More The Super Mario Galaxy Movie news is coming up this weekend, as Nintendo promised a new Direct based on the upcoming sequel film. People can tune in to watch at 6am PT/9am ET on January 25, 2026. As always, to ward off speculation, Nintendo said there’ll be no game news during it.
The placeholder for this presentation is already live online. There are no details about it in the description or online. The teaser thumbnail this time does show Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) together. Both of them are in their Fire Flower forms and are holding fire in the palms of their hands.
We do know a lot about this next film in the series already. It will feature elements from the games in that line of Super Mario titles. Existing characters will return, with the same voice actors reprising their roles. The two new characters confirmed so far are Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Those will be played by Brie Larson (Rosalina) and Benny Safdie (Bowser Jr) in English and Maaya Sakamoto and Daiki Yamashita in Japanese.
The original Super Mario Movie is available now physically and digitally. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will appear in theaters in the US on April 3, 2026 and in Japan on April 24, 2026, with the next Nintendo Direct for it airing at 6am PT/9am ET on January 25, 2026.
