The announcement comes from NieR’s official Japanese Twitter account, where it was revealed that NieR: Automata’s official novel will release in Japan on August 5, 2017. Jun Eishima, who was the author of several Drakengard novels, is the author for the novel and Yoko Taro is supervising.

The NieR: Automata novel will tell an episode that occurred behind-the-scenes of the main game volume, and we’ll get to learn more about each character that appeared in the game.

You can pre-order the NieR: Automata novel over at the Japanese Square Enix e-Store for 1,008 yen.

NieR: Automata is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
