Shortly after AQ Interactive absorbed Cavia and its other studios, Taro Yokoo announced he was leaving the company at an unannounced date.

He’s still at AQ Interactive, but wont be there for long. When 4gamer asked Yokoo to give a message to fans, he said he will retire from AQ Interactive at the end of January 2011.
Yokoo is proud he was able to create game characters players could adventure with and he asks fans, in a humble way, not to have expectations about where he’ll land. 4gamer lists his position as "unemployed."
