Nintendo Introduces Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer amiibo Card Functionality With Roald

Recommended Videos

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is the first game to use Nintendo’s amiibo cards. As Siliconera went over a few days ago, almost immediately after the game begins, it asks if a player has amiibo cards. Which one should, as physical copies of the title start a player off with one. Still, to make the process easier for people to understand, Nintendo of Europe has released a trailer introducing people to Roald.

Roald is one of Animal Crossing’s jock villagers, and a penguin that has appeared in every game since the original Doubutsu no Mori on the Nintendo 64. If his amiibo card is placed on the Nintendo New 3DS or NFC reader peripheral, he will stop by Nook’s Homes and ask for “A room fit for a racer.” The video shows the step-by-step procedure of finding and decorating a home for a penguin who wants to live in a garage.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is now available for the Nintendo 3DS. A standard physical edition is $39.99 and comes with one amiibo card. A bundle that includes the game, one amiibo card, and the NFC reader/writer peripheral is $49.99.
