Nintendo officially announced a new addition to the Nintendo Switch family with the Nintendo Switch Lite, a new compact and lightweight model of the Nintendo Switch console, releasing on September 20, 2019.

The announcement trailer shows off its three colors of Yellow, Grey, and Turqoise. The Nintendo Switch Lite focuses more on the Switch as a handheld console, so it doesn’t connect to TVs and doesn’t have removable Joy-Cons, motion camera, and HD rumble as the standard Switch model. In North America it is priced at $199.99, and comes with a carrying case and screen protector.

The Nintendo Switch Lite has integrated controls, making it smaller than the standard Switch model as well. It doesn’t include a kickstand, dock, and HDMI cable like the standard Switch models.

Below is a quote from Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser:

“Adding Nintendo Switch Lite to the lineup gives gamers more color and price point options. Now consumers can choose the system that best suits how they like to play their favorite Nintendo Switch games.”
