Nioh, which recently celebrated its third anniversary, surpassed three million in worldwide shipments. Thank you very much to everyone who enjoyed the game. Its sequel Nioh 2 releases March 12, 2020. We’ll deliver the best ‘Sengoku death game,’ once again.”

Additionally, Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi spoke with Eurogamer about wanting to create a new IP for PlayStation 5. He said in the interview that since they created Nioh for PS4, they’d like to do the same with a new IP on PlayStation 5. Hayashi-san didn’t go into many details, but he said that he believes that a new console will bring opportunities which he hopes they can jump on to make something new.

Nioh released for PlayStation 4 in North America on February 7, 2017. It followed with a European release on February 8, 2017. The Japanese version released on February 9. Lastly, the PC version released worldwide on November 7, 2017.

Nioh 2 will release for PlayStation 4 worldwide on March 13, 2020. The game is in its final phase of development.
