Not all Wii channels will work on day one

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

Now that you’ve seen a preview of what the new Wii Channels look like, we have some bad news. Don’t expect to be using your Wii to get the weather when you pull it out of the box. Nintendo is going to delay the forecast channel until December 20 and the news channel doesn’t get activated until January 27, 2007. The news channel sounds particularly interesting because it pulls information straight off the Associated Press so you will see some of the same stories on your Wii as you would if you went online to read about the world. The Opera browser is also going to be delayed until a later unannounced date. So no YouTube Wii marathons or remote controlled browsing. The good news is the Wii Shop will be working so you can download NES classics like Donkey Kong or play the original Sonic the Hedgehog.
