Sega announced a Sonic the Hedgehog Official Discord the evening of October 5, 2026, and it passed 60,000 members in under 24 hours as of time of writing. People can still join via the official invite link. It is designed to be a place to go over the games, movies, comics, and merchandise.
As a result of the sudden growth, the Official Sonic the Hedgehog Discord is going through growing pains. Joining it will prompt a captcha asking you to prove you are human. It’s also a bit limited in terms of channels. The general section features general, games, movies, IDW comics, and off-topic ones, there are four tied to Sonic Racing Crossworlds, and a Sonic Collectibles section has a sole #sonic-merch channel. Slowmode is also enabled.
When you do get in, you can opt to get notifications for Sonic games, comics, and merchandise. It also asks if someone speaks English, Japanese, or Spanish. You can also get notifications for certain platforms and note where you’re from. You do need to follow rules to begin posting, and then chat while following those to earn XP to gain permissions.
Sega also noted in the updates that it does plan to add a fan art channel to the Sonic the Hedgehog Official Discord, but again all images are currently disabled. The Server Rules also state, “Keep content human-made: Please don’t post AI-generated art, writing, music, videos, Eggman dating simulators, or other creative content. Human-made Eggman Dating Simulators are (probably) OK, but why would you do this?)”
The Sonic the Hedgehog Official Discord is live now. There is no schedule for when we might see additional channels referencing past games or if there will be a section dedicated to the recent Paramount Pictures movies.
