We now have a release date for the Steam version of Okayu Nyumu, as well as news of an English localization. The game will come out on Steam on August 14, 2025, and it’ll cost 2,970 JPY ($20.20). [Thanks, Game Watch!]
While there will be an English version of Okayu Nyumu, it will only change the interface and add in the translations, with no English voice-over for the characters. Screenshots on the Steam version seem to use the English version of the game. However, it’s likely stills from an earlier build of the game; Okayu’s name still appears in Japanese, and the quotation marks around dialogue are the brackets that Japanese uses.
Okayunyumu is a pure love visual novel game that has you adopting a strange cat, who can turn into a girl. You end up living with her and grow close through interactions or outings. Nekomata Okayu, a hololive VTuber, not only voice acts in this game as the main character, but she was the supervisor as well. Her fellow hololive VTuber friend, Inugami Korone, also appears in the game.
Okayu Nyumu is out for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. You can also play it on the Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 via backwards compatibility. The Steam version of the game will come out on August 14, 2025, and it’ll have an English localization.
