One Of Hudson’s Oldest Series Won’t Have A Console Game This Year

Bomberman, Bonk, Adventure Island, and Deca Sports are probably the most well known Hudson franchises in the West. Japan has another series that’s almost as long running as Bomberman, a board game video game that predates Mario Party called Momotaro Dentetsu. There are over twenty games in the Momotaro Dentetsu line and the last game was released on the Nintendo DS.

While yearly installments moved from PS2 to Wii, Momotaro Dentetsu designer Akira Sakuma says plans for Momotaro Densetsu 2012 (temporary title) have been scrapped. The news comes from a casual blog post where Sakuma says it would be sad to see areas affected by the Tohoku earthquake appear in the game as if nothing had happened.

 

In the Momotaro Dentetsu games players purchase land similar to Monopoly, but the game board is filled with locations from around the country… and the USA in one of games. A video of Momotaro Dentetsu USA is below.
