Developers Experience are prepping up for their final month before the release of Tokyo New World Record: Operation Abyss. This PlayStation Vita game is a dungeon-crawling RPG set in the same nightmare-fueled world full of real monsters as their other game, Labyrinth Cross Blood Reloaded. Be prepared—experience tells us Experience makes some stupidly hard games.

Fortunately, while there are plenty of beasties to kill, you’ll be able to tap on the bloodlines, called Blood Codes, of long-dead legends like Leonardo da Vinci and Hattori Hanzo, which are represented as classes for characters in the game such as assassins, tacticians and more.

Yoon Tae-Hyun is a third-grade middle-schooler whose name suggests she might be of Korean descent. While she looks really small and petite—even bashful—she’s nothing like forgetful Masahachi. Instead, her mouth practically spits fire with a fiery temper that’s more than once caused her to butt heads with other students. Publicly, she does seem to support the Tojo Peace Foundation, but something’s not quite right…

Nagato Shintaro is a copper, an official officially designated to keep an eye on the Aix Corps, especially people like Yoon. He doesn’t take too kindly to things, and constantly draws friction from the people he’s expected to check up on. Expect to have to run into and deal with this guy throughout your travels.

The founder of the school, Mifune Iwao is a mysterious but clearly powerful figure. Said to have been the power behind financial and political business circles once, he withdrew to take care of the school. Maybe. We don’t want to ask him whether these rumors are true or not.

Tokyo New World Record: Operation Abyss will be out for the PlayStation Vita next January 23rd 2014.
