Oscar Isaac (Star Wars, Dune) will take on the role of Solid Snake in an upcoming Metal Gear movie adaptation. The news broke through media outlet Deadline, which confirmed Isaac’s involvement with the adaptation. The film is currently in development and is being overseen by Sony Pictures.
Other names attached to the production include script writer Derek Connolly (Kong: Skull Island, Jurassic World) and producer Avi Arad (Iron Man, Ghost in the Shell). Arad is also set to produce the Uncharted and inFamous adaptations by Sony Pictures. Jordan-Vogt Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) will direct.
In 2012 it was announced that Avi Arad would be adapting Metal Gear into a movie. However, in subsequent years information about the adaptation became scarce. Updates appeared in 2014 and in 2017 regarding the film, which announced the involvement of Jordan-Vogt Roberts and Derek Connolly respectively. And now, in 2020, Isaac has been cast as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid adaptation.
Metal Gear Solid originally released on the PlayStation in 1998 to critical acclaim. The series has gone on to receive numerous sequels, with titles like Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots including movie-length cutscenes. Recently Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid: Substance were made available to purchase through PC storefront GOG.
