During the Persona X-Stream Year 2 Updates Emergency Broadcast, we learned Persona 3 Portable female protagonist Kotone Shiomi will appear in Persona 5: The Phantom X as a playable character. She is early in development and there’s no release date yet. Since the character also isn’t in the Asian version yet, there are no details going over her possible element and role. She debuted in the PSP release, and also appeared in the spin-off Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth.

Kotone came up at about the 10 minute mark of the over 20 minute YouTube stream. Chief Producer Yohsuke Uda mentioned how, “The development of updates are planned and prepared about a year in advance. The information we’re about to share is about something that currently is and has been in active development. It’s not content we started producing for the sake of this broadcast, but rather something that was already well into production. This unfortunately means we don’t have too much to show, but that’s what we plan to share today.” He then shared the first teaser video for her.

The Persona 3 Portable Persona 5: The Phantom X Kotone Shiomi started with a pink version of a clock hitting the Dark Hour and turning green before introducing the female protagonist. Footage from the remaster of the game showed up of her summoning her version of Orpheus. From there, we saw the silhouette of her with her Persona and confirmation she’ll be playable.

Here’s that image of her reveal.

Chief Producer Yohsuke Uda then went on to confirm the female protagonist won’t be the only Persona 3 Portable character to join Persona 5: The Phantom X. There will be a Special Event, and the developer also said, “The female protagonist from P3P isn’t going to be the only one joining the fray. We plan to rope in other P3P-related characters as well.” Shinjiro Aragaki had something of a more prominent possible role there, due to his position as a Social Link, and Theodore was a Velvet Room attendant who only appeared in that version of the game.

Persona 5: The Phantom X is available on PCs and mobile devices. Persona 3 Portable is on the PSP, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
