It is now much easier to pick up a copy of the Pikmin 3 Wii U game. It has returned to the Nintendo eShop. It can now be purchased both on consoles and online through Nintendo’s website. The current price is $19.99. [Thanks, Delisted Games and GoNintendo!]
This comes after a bit of a harrowing crisis. Back when Pikmin 3 Deluxe, an updated version of the game with new content, was announced for the Nintendo Switch, the Wii U version’s eShop listing was pulled. (The option to buy a digital copy actually disappeared on August 5, 2020, the same day the Switch version was announced.)
There was no comment about Pikmin 3 removal from the eshop at the time from Nintendo. However, after the removal, people did point out that the North American Wii U version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was delisted after the Switch version, which added Funky Kong, was announced.
Pikmin 3 is immediately available for the Nintendo Wii U worldwide. Pikmin 3 Deluxe will come to the Nintendo Switch worldwide on October 30, 2020. The new version of the game is going to add cooperative multiplayer to the campaign, new story segments starring Olimar and Louie, and a Piklopedia encyclopedia.
