The player’s decisions throughout a playthrough of RPG Archmage Rises will take the game in dozens of different directions, letting players have families, sell their loved ones into slavery, start wars, or save orphans as they see fit.
The world of Archmage Rises is complex, offering many different political and military factions as the world ages and changes with time and the player’s actions. The procedurally-generated worlds also feature an in-game economy that can be affected by bandits and trade routes, as well as the player’s actions.
Each NPC in the game world also has an effect on how it runs. Should a player decide to kill an innkeeper, the inn will close. Should they get a divorce after marrying an NPC, that NPC may send thugs out to rough the player up. NPCs will retain information on every run-in they have with the player, and will even spread gossip to other NPCs throughout the world.
Players will also have all of the traditional gameplay of a turn-based RPG as well, exploring dungeons and using powerful magic to devastate enemies in combat. However, death is permanent, so players may wish to avoid battle and wait to pass from old age instead.
Archmage Rises is currently on Steam Greenlight, and is expected to release sometime in Q1 2017.
