Users are reporting that “phat” PlayStation 3s are working properly after a clock error prevented access to PlayStation Network and trophy enabled titles.

I turned on my non-slim PS3, successfully signed on to PSN, and loaded Heavy Rain. Please note this is anecdotal evidence and not an official announcement. If you decide to log on now you may want to update your clock.

Let us (and the gazillion other PS3 owners affected) know if your PlayStation 3 works in the comments.

Update: Everything’s fixed now. Corporate Communications & Social Media Director, Patrick Seybold, had this to say about the leap year bug.

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.
