Sony Interactive Entertainment is readying up for the next major system update for PS4, and owners of the console can get a chance to test it out ahead of launch as a beta tester.

The beta for the 5.0 System Software update is available to register here for North America, as well as Europe and Japan. It’ll be available for sign-ups anytime between today and the start of the beta sometime in early August.

To give you an idea what to expect, those who beta-tested the previous major system software update, version 4.50, got to check out features such as the external HDD support, custom wallpapers, Quick Menu refresh, and more.

Those who are chosen to be a part of the program will receive an email with instructions on downloading the next system software. An update with details on features you can expect to see in the beta will be revealed on a later date.
