The idea in Pokemon Friends is to play daily to go through random puzzles. When you do, you will get yarn that can make virtual plush toys that look like amigurumi stuffed animals. These can be displayed in your virtual room. It is also possible to decorate said room by completing in-game quests for people in town. The base game on Switch has 30 types puzzles and 70 kinds of plush. The two add-ons each seem to add an additional 10 types of puzzles, 40 types of Pokemon plush, and 15 pieces of furniture.

At the moment, one of the only other Pokemon puzzle games on the Switch is Pokemon Puzzle League. You need to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack tier to access that N64 game.

Pokemon Friends will come to the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices on July 22, 2025.
