A “shocking” new Pokémon project was announced today in collaboration with Famitsu magazine and The Pokémon company. This game is Pokkén Tournament, being developed in collaboration with Bandai Namco.

Update: Trailer available here.

During the stream, The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara met up with Tekken chief producer Katsuhiro Harada and Soul Calibur producer Masaaki Hoshino to talk about the game.

Pokkén Tournament will be released in arcades in Japan in 2015. A console release has not been confirmed yet.

Pokkén Tournament originated as a trademark that Siliconera discovered last year. It was filed alongside Pokkén Fighters, and the game was teased at the 2013 Pokémon Game Show.
